Puzzle game UX case study

By mapping the player's journey, we aim to design engaging puzzle game experiences, supported by a backend infrastructure that enables competitive user ranking.

THE PROCESS

Competitor analysis & customer follow-up

To kick off the project, we collaborated closely with the client to define the game's core concept, desired features, and overall user experience. We then conducted a thorough analysis of similar games in the market to identify best practices and potential opportunities for innovation.

Competitive game analysis

Understanding the competitive landscape was crucial for shaping the user experience of the TudoGostoso app game. A benchmark analysis was performed on puzzle games, specifically targeting crossword puzzle applications. From a pool of over 10 competitors, 5 were strategically chosen for in-depth analysis.

These competitors were selected because their existing offerings and user experiences mirrored the desired direction for the TudoGostoso game. This focused approach allowed for a detailed examination of successful user flows, engagement mechanics, and interface designs within the crossword puzzle genre.

UX Design & Wireframing:

This stage was crucial for establishing the core user experience of the game, strategically leveraging insights from the competitive analysis. We translated these insights into user-centered flows and interactions, ensuring the game built upon established best practices while offering unique value.

Wireframing served as a blueprint, meticulously outlining the information architecture, content placement, UX writing, and functionality of each screen. This iterative process facilitated early feedback and guaranteed a clear and usable product structure before visual design commenced.

THE IMPACT

The desired outcome is to increase user session length within the app by offering an engaging gaming experience.
